Reflecting on her coming of age throughout her years as an art student to becoming a professional artist, Thavika Savangwongsakul conveys messages, visually and literally, into her painting filled with overwrought sentiment. Just as all children are bound to grow into an adult, Thavika views leaving this ‘Neverland’ of childhood as if she is plunging into the rabbithole of ‘Wonderland’ of adulthood. While growing up can be considered an adventure, it is difficult to acknowledge the madness is what life is. Thavika’s painting serves as the space where she could channel her mixed emotion varied from bittersweet, anxiety, excitement, to safety in this journey to adulthood.

Gallery VER is proud to present the first solo show by Thavika Savangwongsakul, ‘Neverland’s End’. Freshly graduated from Chulalongkorn University, Savangwongsakul is stepping into the new path as a professional artist.
