Art Basel Awards has announced its 2026 Medalists, recognizing 33 visionaries shaping the future of art and culture across the global contemporary art ecosystem. Among this year’s honorees is renowned artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, who has been selected in the Established Artist category.
Presented in partnership with BOSS, the annual Awards celebrate artists, curators, patrons, institutions, and cultural innovators whose practices are redefining artistic production and expanding the role of culture today.
Now in its second year, the Art Basel Awards recognize individuals and organizations whose influence extends across disciplines, geographies, and communities. This year’s medalists represent a broad international spectrum, reflecting the increasingly interconnected nature of contemporary art.
Widely recognized for his pioneering participatory practice, Tiravanija has consistently redefined conventional exhibition models through works centered on shared experience, social interaction, and collective exchange. His selection as a 2026 Art Basel Awards Medalist further underscores his significant contribution to contemporary art and his enduring international influence.
