ART CLUB 3000, a special project by Rirkrit Tiravanija in 2026, is a space designed for people to relax, reflect, and engage with one another. It is rooted in the concept of Relational Aesthetics, emphasizing shared experiences and active audience participation as part of the artwork.

The project’s title references Art Club 2000, a 1990s artist group known for collaborative practices and critiques of consumer culture and the art system.

The installation takes the form of a cave-like structure with a long wooden table and low seating, encouraging intimacy and a connection to the ground. Visitors are invited to share sake and Thai sato (rice wine), highlighting cultural traditions of communal eating and drinking.

ART CLUB 3000 also builds on ideas from Tiravanija’s earlier work Untitled (The form of the flower is unknown to the seed), shown at the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Tiravanija’s practice treats architecture as a social space for interaction, where the value of the work comes from participation and shared experience rather than physical form.
