Glance, left and right: Pattara Chanruechachai
Past exhibition
Overview
In his first solo exhibition, Glance, left and right, Pattara Chanruechachai engages in a critical analysis of today’s society through photography and recycled newspapers. He explores the traces of human existence in abandoned buildings. Rather than contemplating the form of abandoned architecture, he questions the function of the building - its necessary existence and human interaction. He looks for answers in the media and current events. Glance, left and right is an extension of his previous work One Day, Another. The multilayering of photography upon new print creates new meanings to the words and the images. These images become sculptures in themselves, a tribute to the discarded landscape. He invites the viewer to make new interpretations on the apparent uselessness of abandoned spaces.
Pattara uses a photographic recycling process, to compose and decompose the messages from newspapers. This process seeks meaning from current affairs and future events.
