#OHAAP2022 presented a series of work-in-progress works and sharing offering audiences insights into their current research interests and diverse approaches towards Kampong Gelam’s history and communities.
Ruangsak explores the relationship between the gelam tree, tiger balm, and the weretiger. Through sketches, book references, and plant specimens collected during his research in Singapore. Additionally, inspired by Thai comic books, a manga will be created to highlight the stories of displacement in the Kampong Gelam community. This installation and manga aim to evoke contemplation about the former residents while providing a platform to discuss deeper neighborhood issues.
