Inspired by traditional Thai fishing boats and the everyday food culture along Thailand’s waterways, Rirkrit Tiravanija presents a distinctive dining installation for Dalad’s, a temporary restaurant by WE ARE ONA, in collaboration with chef Dalad Kambhu and founder Luca Pronzato, during Art Basel Paris 2026. This project takes place from 18–25 October 2026 near Place de l’Étoile in Paris during Art Basel Paris 2026.
The installation features two monumental boat-shaped stainless steel structures that function as both communal dining tables and working kitchens. Equipped with integrated seating and steam pots, the structures bring cooking and dining together, allowing guests to experience the preparation and sharing of food in the same space.
Drawing on memories of Bangkok’s floating food vendors and the familiar tradition of gathering around a meal, Tiravanija reimagines the fishing boat as both a place of exchange and a space for connection. The installation transforms everyday cultural references into a collective experience, where food, art, and hospitality come together.
