The exhibition “Don’t Wait Until Tomorrow” adopted one of the mottos of Professor Silpa Bhirasri which stated that “Tomorrow Is Too Late”, which is used to remind his students to be diligent in their practice as well as seeing the value of time. The motto is interpreted and applied in creating the work, under the concept of different types of time, such as specific time, postponing, times in the period of life, stressing the importance of the present, delayed, as well as learning from observations on humans’ behavior.
Professor Silpa Bhirasri(15 September 1892 – 14 May 1962), born Corrado Feroci, was a Tuscan-born Thai sculptor from Florence who served under the crown of King Vachirawut (Rama VI). He is considered the father of modern art in Thailand. He established the School of Fine Art, which later became Silpakorn University. Silpa Bhirasri is the first chancellor of the university.
Every September 15th, which is the birthday of Professor Silpa, is considered “Silpa Bhirasri Day” to commemorate his good will towards Silpakorn University and Thailand. In this exhibition, these specific date and month are being used as an essential element of artworks.
