Thavika Savangwongsakul is an emerging contemporary artist based between Bangkok and New York City. Savangwongsakul is recognized for her dynamic mixed media creations, skillfully translating complex emotions and ephemeral thoughts into compelling visual expressions. Primarily a painter, Savangwongsakul’s practice continues to explore various mediums, expanding into painting-based installation art. Through her work, she continuously develops her artistic vision, offering viewers multiple perspectives on her creations.
An alumna of Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Visual Arts, Savangwongsakul is currently pursuing a Master’s in Fine Arts at School of Visual Arts in New York. This academic pursuit enhances her understanding of diverse artistic possibilities and experimentation. Savangwongsakul’s work functions as a sophisticated visual narrative, engaging viewers in profound dialogue through expressive brushstrokes and intricate layering of imagery and texture. Her use of color is particularly notable, vibrant and cheerful at first glance, yet with an underlying aggression that challenges and disrupts the initial perception. This dynamic interplay reflects her belief in the power of art to provoke ideas, inspire emotions, and foster meaningful conversations.
