Mit Jai Inn challenges traditional notions of painting by exploring a variety of histories and techniques through a physically demanding process of mixing, applying, layering, and eroding pigments. Rooted in a deeply personal and reflective studio practice, his painted forms respond to political, social, and aesthetic histories. Mit’s work engages both perception and relational intent, reflecting a broad range of historical influences—from the traditional divisions between ‘Western’ and ‘Eastern’ painting to Thailand’s shifting political landscape.

Emerging in Berlin and Vienna in the late 1980s, he developed a distinctive vocabulary of serial forms designed to challenge formal conventions of painting, as well as the exhibition and market structures of his time.

His recent exhibitions include Dreamworld #dreammantra at MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Chiang Mai (2023), Underground at Gallery VER, Bangkok (2023), Aichi Triennale, Aichi Prefecture, Japan (2022), the 21st Biennale of Sydney, Cockatoo Island, Australia (2018), Medium at Large at the Singapore Art Museum (2014), Postpositive: Freaky You Are Always at SA SA BASSAC, Phnom Penh (2013), Untitled at H Gallery, Chiang Mai (2013), All Our Relations at the 18th Biennale of Sydney, Australia (2012), and the Museum Serve Project at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Center (2011).
