Rirkrit Tiravanija is participating artist in Ghost2568
Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here. The final edition of Ghost, a video and performance art series taking place across Bangkok, Thailand. On view from 15 October to 16 November 2025, Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here is curated by Amal Khalaf, with Christina Li, Korakrit Arunanondchai, and Pongsakorn Yananissorn, and unfolds across multiple venues throughout the city.
In a time of displacement, rupture, and loss, Ghost 2568: Wish We Were Here becomes a song for human and non-human survival within the ever-shrinking spaces of freedom in our cities. It offers a meeting place where our deepest yearnings for one another, for lost places, and for ways of being can take shape and find rest. Tracing the edges of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, Ghost 2568 explores our entanglements with each other, the worlds we wish to inhabit, and the messy, unruly, and ungovernable ways we bring those worlds into being.
Among the participating artists, Rirkrit Tiravanija presents “untitled 2023 (sitcom ghost)”, a work that explores the spiritual possibilities and illusions of art. Drawing on a monologue written by French artist Philippe Parreno in 2005 for Tiravanija’s retrospective in Paris, this new iteration features Austrian actor Florian Troebinger performing the text through augmented reality (AR). Appearing across various sites in Bangkok like a wandering “ghost,” the work haunts the city’s present moment, blurring the boundaries between memory and apparition, presence and absence, the real and the imagined.
