Under the theme ‘Disconnected Contemporaries,’ we delve into the fascinating overlaps and contrasts in our understanding and appreciation of art from this era.
________
Meet the Artists:
Disorn Duangdao focuses his interest on the situations that arise from his surroundings, including the use of raw materials derived from the experience of overlapping and parallel contexts of ambiguity and reality. His practice involves a combination of constructing sets of symbolic language within objects and finding meaning within twisted structures. Disorn’s aesthetic opens up a diverse dialogue ranging from nature, society, and politics, to history, all under the realm of an exchange area for reform and reconstruction.
Thavika Savangwongsakul is an emerging contemporary artist based between Bangkok and New York City. She is recognized for her dynamic mixed media creations, skillfully translating complex emotions and ephemeral thoughts into compelling visual expressions. Primarily a painter, her practice continues to explore various mediums, expanding into painting-based installation art. Through her work, she continuously develops her artistic vision, offering viewers multiple perspectives on her creations.
Viriya Chotpanyavisut is a photographic artist whose works are characterized by his ability to capture fleeting environments and imbue everyday objects with a poetic and immaterial dimension. In his photography and video, memory becomes a complex concept that goes beyond individual perspectives. His work delves into intricate details often overlooked, presenting a silent and isolated world that encourages viewers to explore beneath the surface, fostering emotional reflection over explicit facts.
